Chapter 125 What Happens Two Years Later

Chapter 125 What Happens Two Years Later

On Friday afternoon, Qin Lu went to a meeting at the department.

The meeting content was the same as usual: safety education, academic atmosphere building, and so on.

She sat by the window in the conference room, occasionally jotting down notes in her notebook. She watched the sycamore leaves outside, which fell with the slightest breeze.

It was already 4:30 when the meeting ended, and several familiar counselors walked out side by side.

Ms. Li, a teacher from the comics department, walked beside her, smiling as she said, "Qin Lu, you look so radiant lately!"

Qin Lu was taken aback: "Really?"

"Yes," Teacher Li said with a smile, "She looks much more energetic than when school first started, and her skin is more radiant."

Qin Lu subconsciously raised her hand and touched her face: "What do you mean by 'skinny'? I'm already this old."

"I'm not making this up, you've been acting noticeably different lately," Teacher Li said seriously. "Is there some good news?"

Qin Lu twitched the corner of her mouth: "What good things could there be? It's just the same old stuff every day."

"You can tell if a woman is in good spirits just by looking at her," Teacher Li said in a lower voice. "Has your brother-in-law been here recently?"

Qin Lu felt a little embarrassed and said with an awkward smile, "Sister Li, you should go pick up the child!"

Teacher Li glanced at her watch: "Oh dear, I've been so busy talking to you that it's already this late. I'm off!"

Qin Lu watched her retreating figure, her smile slowly fading as she turned and walked towards her office.

She pushed open the office door and sat down in the chair.

The computer screen was black, but she clicked the mouse and the screen lit up.

She stared at the screen for a few seconds, then opened her browser and searched for skincare products for the first time.

She used to not care about her age and didn't have much awareness of skin care.

She felt that it would be good enough for the three of them to live a simple and ordinary life, watching Qin Ya grow up day by day, watching her get married and have children like herself, and just grow old like that.

But now, she's starting to care.

Dewy and radiant? Good complexion?

She's 38 years old, and there are already fine lines around her eyes.

Yu Heng was only nineteen years old, twice the age of the other woman.

When Yu Heng is thirty-eight, how old will she be? Almost an old lady.

He says he likes mature women now, but will she still like them when that time comes?

She really needs to start taking care of herself. She's seen women in their fifties or sixties who still look like girls in their twenties or thirties. Hopefully, it's not too late.

She sat on the chair for a while, then suddenly stood up and walked to the small mirror on the wall.

She leaned closer and stared at herself in the mirror.

Has anything really changed?

Or was it just a casual, polite remark from someone?

But she did feel that she was sleeping better during this period.

Although I didn't go to bed early, I slept soundly.

Maybe it's because... life isn't so free anymore?

Haha, maybe so, my mind and body are completely filled.

She does have a decent figure, but she hasn't done anything special to maintain it.

I remember Yu Heng once said that the flesh on her waist was very soft.

She said at the time: That's excess fat.

He said he likes meaty things because they're comfortable to hug.

Qin Lu was lost in thought when the door was suddenly pushed open. She was startled and turned around to find Yu Heng standing there.

"You little rascal!" Qin Lu's chest was still heaving. "Why don't you ever knock before coming in?"

Yu Heng closed the door behind him and walked in: "Why did I knock before entering your office?"

He walked to the other side of the desk, pulled up a chair, and sat down.

"What?" Yu Heng looked at her, "Is there another man in your office?"

"What nonsense are you talking about!" Qin Lu scolded, "Having you around makes things even more troublesome!"

"What are you thinking about?" Yu Heng asked with a smile. "I just saw you looking in the mirror at the door."

"Sister Li just said that I look particularly good lately," she said, turning her head to look at him, "and look younger than before."

Yu Heng leaned back in his chair: "Isn't that great?"

"She said," Qin Lu gritted her teeth, "that her husband is coming over."

Upon hearing this, Yu Heng paused for a moment, then his shoulders trembled, and he couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"What are you laughing at?" Qin Lu glared at him.

"It's nothing," Yu Heng said, his smile fading slightly. "I just think she really does know a lot."

Qin Lu didn't understand: "What do you mean?"

"I can tell you've been pampered," Yu Heng said bluntly. "How could you not be in good shape?"

"You little rascal!" Qin Lu turned her face away. "You're still laughing."

"She guessed the wrong person," Yu Heng stood up, walked behind her, and hugged her. "But you can call me husband, too."

Qin Lu suddenly turned around: "Stop messing around!"

"Say it once and let me hear it?" Yu Heng persisted.

"Yu Heng!" Qin Lu called him by his full name, "Don't go too far!"

She hadn't called him "husband" in years; she simply couldn't bring herself to say it.

It was so embarrassing, especially in front of Yu Heng.

Seeing her embarrassed state, Yu Heng didn't press her any further.

He reached out and pinched her chin, then smeared his thumb on her lips.

"If you don't want to call me that, then so be it," he said. "Anyway, whether he's my husband or not, I've done all the chores I'm supposed to do."

Qin Lu slapped his hand away: "Stop acting like a hooligan here."

Yu Heng smiled but didn't say anything.

Qin Lu was silent for a moment, then spoke again: "How old do you... think I look right now?"

Yu Heng raised an eyebrow: "Why are you asking that?"

"Just tell me," Qin Lu said, staring at him.

Yu Heng walked back and bent down to get close to her face.

Qin Lu held her breath. He looked at her for a few seconds and asked, "Early twenties?"

"Don't try to fool me," Qin Lu said.

"Why would I coax you?" Yu Heng straightened up. "You're naturally beautiful. Standing next to Qin Ya, you look like a pair of twin beauties."

"Nonsense," she said softly, her back to him. "Yu Heng, I'm thirty-eight."

"Mm," Yu Heng replied.

"You're only nineteen," Qin Lu continued.

"So?" Yu Heng asked.

Qin Lu turned around and looked at him: "By the time you're thirty-eight, I'll be fifty-seven."

Yu Heng looked at her and suddenly smiled: "You're thinking quite far ahead."

"It's not that I'm thinking too far ahead," Qin Lu said, "it's a fact. The fact is I'll always be nineteen years older than you, and I'll age very quickly."

"And then?" Yu Heng hugged her tighter. "Are you saying that when you get old, I won't treat you like this anymore?"

Qin Lu remained silent, which was taken as tacit agreement.

Yu Heng reached out and touched her face, and Qin Lu froze for a moment.

"I'm with you because of who you are now," Yu Heng said, his hand resting on her cheek. "As for the future, we'll talk about that later."

Hearing these words, Qin Lu actually breathed a sigh of relief. If Yu Heng had said something nice, she would have felt it was unreal and felt even more pressured.

"Besides," Yu Heng's hand slid to the back of her neck, "so what if she's fifty-seven? If she takes good care of herself, she'll still have her charm. But that's twenty years from now, why think so much about it? Maybe by then, we won't need this kind of thing to maintain our relationship."

"Then what do we rely on?" Qin Lu raised an eyebrow.

"Feelings," Yu Heng smiled, "If we're still together in twenty years, our feelings will be very deep. We'll be family then, and you can even help me take care of the kids, haha."

"Who's your family! And you're even bringing a child?" Qin Lu rolled her eyes at him. "I'm not your mother!"

"You still have to take care of your own child, right?" Yu Heng narrowed his eyes. "Is it not too late to have one now, to give Qin Ya a younger brother or sister?"

"This is getting more and more absurd," Qin Lu said, breaking free from him. "What do you want from me?"

"It's nothing," Yu Heng pulled her into his arms again, "I just missed you, let me hug you for a while."

Upon hearing this, Qin Lu pursed her lips.

This rascal always says such sentimental things at these inappropriate times.
